First, the operation method
1. Plug the instrument power plug into the 220V AC power supply, [require the use of AC electronic voltage regulator (1KVA)] and ground the grounding pin reliably.

3. Turn on the DC switch. (If the sodium light is off after the DC switch is turned on, then the DC switch is repeatedly turned up and down 1 or 2 times to make the sodium light illuminate under DC, which is normal.)
4. Turn on the display switch and adjust the zero handwheel to make the optical rotation value zero.
5. Place the test tube containing distilled water or other blank solvent into the sample chamber and close the lid. If there are bubbles in the test tube, let the bubbles float at the convex neck; the misty water droplets at both ends of the light-passing surface. Apply a soft cloth to dry. The test tube nut should not be tightened too tightly to avoid stress and affect the reading. Pay attention to the position and direction of the mark when placing the test tube.
6. Remove the test tube. Inject the sample to be tested into the test tube, place it in the sample chamber in the same position and orientation, and cover the lid. The dial will rotate the optical rotation of the sample. The red value on the display dial is left-handed (-) and the black value is right-handed (+).
7. Press the retest button one by one, repeat the reading several times, and take the average value as the measurement result of the sample.
8. If the sample exceeds the measurement range, the instrument will automatically stop at ±45. At this point, take out the test tube and click the reset button switch to automatically return the instrument to the zero position.
9. After the instrument is used, turn off the display, DC, and power switch.
10. When the sodium lamp fails to be used in the DC power supply system, the instrument can also be tested under the AC power supply of the sodium lamp, but the performance of the instrument may be slightly reduced.
Second, determine the concentration or content
First, the standard or reference sample of known purity is released into a number of samples of different concentrations according to a certain ratio, and the optical rotations thereof are respectively measured. Then, the horizontal axis is the concentration, and the vertical axis is the optical rotation, and the optical rotation curve is drawn. Generally, the optical rotation curves are in the form of a checklist by arithmetic interpolation. In the measurement, the optical rotation of the sample is first measured, and the concentration or content of the sample is detected from the optical rotation curve according to the optical rotation. The optical rotation curve should be applied to the same instrument and the same test tube.
