Universal Orlando Resort will launch Volcano Bay in early 2017. On the surface, it looks like a highly themed water park, you will not miss this way of thinking. Only, it is not just your typical water park once you dive below the surface.
In fact, Orlando Global is creating a new term for parks: water theme parks. Although this sounds like a new buzzword, Volcano Bay around the world will change the way the world sees water parks.
Krakatau
The center of the park is Krakatau, volcanic eponymous volcano. While many other parks will be built around the volcano, or even send you through it, guests will go around, travel, it, under it and pass it. From the fall of death through the center of the volcano to the newly announced water-skiing roller coaster in Krakatau, Universal is pushing the boundaries with the technology inside and around the volcano.
For beginners, there is the above water roller coaster, a new water slide unlike any other in Florida. The slide will take four canoes riders as it passes through the canyons, uphill and through the volcano.
And so on... Uphill? On the waterslide? Yes!
Roller coasters will use linear induction motors to drive riders through huge roads. While other local slides use water jets to do so, Volcano Bay is the only park in Florida and will use a magnetic motor for a water slide. These are the universal motors that push their roller coasters, revengeful mummies through the next door next door at Universal Studios.
Below the volcano will be a series of caves filled with light and features that live on your touch using new technologies developed by Orlando.
Then the volcano itself. Krakatau will be the nature of mythology. To the sky, it will spit water, and at night it will shoot fire! OK, not really fire, but it will definitely look like it.
The volcano will use amazing new LED technology to bring flames in the life of this water-filled volcano. Guests at a nearby hotel can enjoy spectacular views as the sun goes down.
TapuTapu
Volcano Bay is also Tapu Tapu. This is a mysterious force that will make the lines disappear and the area around the park will become vibrant. Well, so it is not a mystical power because it is a new technology that will make the park fearless and interactive. Once guests arrive at the park, they will receive Tapu Tapu, a bracelet that looks like a tropical souvenir.
Guests will use the bracelet to “enter†the ride they want to ride. Once they enter, they are free to explore the park as they wait in the virtual line. As the ride time gets closer, guests will feel TapuTapu vibrating and the screen will show a countdown until their riding time. When time passes, guests will go for a ride and check.
Another feature of TapuTapu - guests will be able to interact with the surrounding attractions and functions. Shooting whales from water to cannons will have many ways to interact with the land surrounding the park. Caves under the volcano will also have special secrets of activation using only Tapu Tapu.
The park is being designed to liberate most people from the water park. One way guests will be able to play trouble free will be with the way to ride from the mat and raft. If an attractive mat or rafter is needed, it will be lifted to the attraction of the belt or elevator. All you need to do is show and ride!
