USA Develops PET Soft Drink Bottle Caps

Alcoa International Sealing System (CSI) of Pittsburgh, USA, introduced two new types of caps to improve the tightness of carbonated soft drink bottles in a wide temperature range. Alcoa CSI research shows that PET bottles filled with soft drinks are subjected to temperature changes (4.5Â°C-57Â°C) during filling, transport, and distribution. This wide range of temperature changes will cause shrinkage of the heat-sensitive PET material and thus bottlenecks. There is a gap between the end and the sealing cap, resulting in the loss of carbon dioxide in the beverage and a drop in the freshness of the beverage.
Alcoa CSI's two cap new products, the Double-Lok XT and Extra-Lok XT with a diameter of 28mm, are specially designed for PET beverage bottles in various environments and have the best performance of sealing carbon dioxide. The XT has two liners, the inner and outer layers, which are the least likely to create gaps. When the temperature changes rapidly, this heavy seal ensures that consumers have the highest beverage freshness before opening the bottle. In addition, the cap has a unique technique of capping and opening the package.
