Automatic disappearance of magical ink saving paper resources

Ink disappears after 24 hours

The peculiarity of this technology lies in the fact that the new "ink" used can disappear naturally after 24 hours, and the original white appearance of the paper can be reused.

According to the British "Times" website reported on the 8th, this disappearing "ink" is a new type of light sensor composed of molecules. When "ink" encounters ultraviolet rays, the color will gradually fade.

The sharpness of a document ejected from this "ink" is comparable to that of an ordinary ink-jet or laser-printed document. The only difference is that the color of the former is dark purple instead of the traditional black.

The file covering the new “ink” has just left the printer. The molecules in “ink” react immediately under the influence of the surrounding air and temperature, and the color gradually becomes lighter over time. After about a day, the paper will have a white appearance.

As long as the paper is not wrinkled, it can be used repeatedly, it is estimated that up to 30 times.

New technology puts on the market a few years later

This new technology was co-developed by the photocopier giant Xerox Research Center in Canada and the Palo Alto Research Center in the United States to reduce office pollution and improve paper utilization to protect the environment.

Researchers say it is not difficult to install UV emitters in existing office printers. After connecting with the computer, users can choose different printing modes according to their needs. For some documents that do not need long-term retention, you can use new technologies to print.

The researcher of the Xerox copier, Paul Smith, said: "Our statistics show that 45% of office documents are "one-off." Some of these documents require only a few minutes of retention time."

Smith also said that new technologies can greatly reduce office energy consumption. If it is printed on new paper, its energy consumption is only one-hundredth of that of the existing printing methods. If it is printed on recycled paper, energy consumption is only half of the original.

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, information industry experts had predicted that office computerization would create a “paperless” era, but this was not the case. People are still happy to use paper documents when communicating and processing information.

Smith said that this new technology needs to be improved in the next few years before it can be put on the market.

Environmental experts believe that new technologies that can use paper repeatedly can be widely promoted, which is good news for alleviating shortage of resources. Not only can we reduce the expenses of office supplies, we can also reduce the amount of tree felling to protect the environment.
