Cyrel flexo platemaking process

Traditional platemaking process (using negative film)

1. Expose the back of the plate with a light source in the ultraviolet A zone (back exposure) to form the substrate of the plate and increase the photosensitivity of the plate. The length of the back exposure depends on the depth of the plate graphic.

2. Remove the protective film on the front side of the plate, place a negative film, cover the vacuum film, and vacuum. After vacuum extraction, exposure (main exposure) is performed again. The purpose of the main exposure is to transfer the graphic on the film to the plate. The length of the main exposure depends on the situation of the view and the thickness of the printing plate. Negative film should be a sanded surface.

3. The exposed plate is fed to the plate cleaner so that the exposed part of the plate is washed away to form a concave-convex printing surface (wash plate).

4. Dry (dry) the washed plate.

5. Irradiate the plate with a light source in the ultraviolet C zone to remove the tackiness (detack) of the plate surface.

6. Finally, the plate is irradiated with the ultraviolet A zone light source to reach the final hardness of the plate (post-exposure).

Digital platemaking process (without using film)

1. Expose (back exposure) the back side of the plate with a light source in the ultraviolet A zone to form the substrate for the plate and improve the photosensitivity of the plate. The length of the back exposure depends on the depth of the plate graphic.

2. Remove the protective film on the front of the printing plate, and attach the plate to the vacuum cylinder of the Cyrel digital imaging device, prepress the data in the image processing system, control the laser head of the digital imaging device, and burn off the Cyrel digital flexo On the black film, the desired part of the image is exposed, and then the main exposure is performed without using a negative film. No vacuum required.

3. The exposed plate is fed to a processor to wash off the unexposed resin on the plate to form a concave-convex printing surface (wash plate).
