Toppan Printing listed the world's smallest coinless contactless IC card

Toppan Printing has developed a coin-type contactless IC card “SMARTIS-cFe” that supports the FeliCa method. Sample shipments will begin on April 10, 2008. The product is available in two types with diameters of 26.6mm and 22.6mm. "In the 0.8mm thick FeliCa-enabled IC card, it is the world's smallest size" (the company). With this IC card, non-contact IC card functions can be installed on small pendants such as cell phone lanyards and key chains.

The built-in memory has a capacity of 4 KB, and the user area for storing cardholder data information is 2.4 KB, which is suitable for various card types. By adopting an independently developed antenna design technology and packaging technology, the size of the antenna is reduced and the coin shape is realized. Imagine applications for admission certificates for entertainment facilities, membership cards, keys for apartments and hotels, shop credit cards, and electronic vouchers. Bus tickets and electronic money features are also available.

It is scheduled to start volume production in 2008. Sample price is about 3,000 yen. The reference price for mass production is 800 yen. The sales target for 2008 is 100,000.
